about

Bruxism is about someone beginning to experience physical symptoms as a result of their increasingly anxious thoughts about a situation. The person chooses to embrace their situation and express how they genuinely feel about it rather than hiding those thoughts out of a fear of being considered too whiney.

The song was inspired by the anxiety that was brought on by the lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic and was a response to people and posts on social media that aimed to cheer everyone up in the early stages of the pandemic when the world suddenly got a lot smaller. At the point of release, I'm not sure when this will clear up but I know that one day it will and I look forward to looking back at this moment in time as a historical footnote.

lyrics

I hate to say this, but I think I'm starting to break.
It's getting much harder to tell myself to stay awake.
I need to see you, but we need to keep our distance.
Is this for the short term or is this just nonexistence?

Oh, we could be here for quite some time.
So I better tell you what's on my mind.

I'm too tired to speak and I'm far too stressed to get some sleep.
It gets a little hard to breathe through the weary eyes and clenching teeth.
I start to feel weak as the panic strikes and hits the peak.
But that's just a part of me.
That's just a part of me.

I'm so dependent. I've not seen my friends in so long.
Is it Monday or Friday? The weekdays all blend into one.
Am I being stupid? 'Cause I know that there's bigger problems.
But fear's only worsened by TV and online forums.

Will I be alright? Will I be ok?
At this point in time, it is too soon to say.
I hope that I will and that this will end soon.
But until that day, I will be here locked in this room.
